Adding a mechanic to your team

Last updated Oct 1, 2026

A mechanic is a staff member who looks after the vehicles — setups, readiness and servicing — without access to your drivers' personal records. Like a coach, they join with a one-time invite code that only the team owner can create.

Create and share a Mechanic code

  1. Open Settings → Staff (owner only).
  2. In the Invite staff card, under This code grants, choose Mechanic.
  3. Tap Create an invite code, then Copy code or Share invite. The code is shown once and expires after seven days.

Until it's used, the code is listed in the card marked Mechanic, so you can tell it apart from a coach code. A mechanic takes one of your staff seats, just like a coach.

Joining

The mechanic needs a Team account: at signup they choose Team, then Join a team as staff, and enter the code. They land in the Team app — Drivers, Garage, Sessions, Settings — and appear in your People card as a Mechanic.

What a mechanic can do

  • See the roster (names, numbers, classes, nationality) and each driver's Sessions, Tracks and Garage tabs
  • Open Team sessions and telemetry they have permission to read
  • Edit setup sheets, set readiness, log track conditions and tire checks, and manage tire sets on permitted active vehicles
  • Create and edit service reports, with photos
  • Edit an existing vehicle's details, and archive or restore it

What stays with the owner and coaches

  • Drivers' contact and personal details and staff notes — mechanics don't get the Details or Notes tabs
  • Adding drivers or vehicles, and inviting anyone
  • Importing, tagging or deleting sessions
  • Race engineer reports

By default every mechanic sees every vehicle. To limit each one to the drivers they look after, see Choosing which vehicles a mechanic can see.
