Understand tire usage and correct the timeline
Last updated Oct 1, 2026
The Tires tab counts usage from sessions assigned to the vehicle and the periods each set was fitted. The figures change when you correct those assignments or times.
What the figures mean
- Sessions (heat cycles): each counted session stands in for one heat cycle. This is a session count, not a measurement of how often the tire reached operating temperature.
- Timed laps: timed laps from the sessions that ran on that tire. Out-laps and in-laps do not count here.
- Distance: GPS distance includes running outside timed laps too. The app shows how many counted sessions have a known distance, such as "11 of 14 sessions", and identifies sessions with no GPS.
Replacing one tire can leave the two tires on an axle with different usage. An axle summary does not mean both tires have the same history.
If usage is missing or lower than expected
- Check the session has the right vehicle and a date. Sessions with no date or no vehicle cannot count.
- Check Fitted since and the fitting entries in Timeline. A session before the set was fitted belongs to the earlier period.
- If offered on a personal vehicle, use Assign sessions to review unassigned sessions from the set's fitting periods. They do not count until you assign them.
- Use Calculate missing distances to work out distances from available session files. A session with no usable GPS cannot supply a distance; failed downloads or unavailable files can be retried.
- On a Team vehicle, sessions from before that vehicle existed cannot be attributed to it. When a driver leaves, removal of their shared sessions from the Team can lower Team tire totals.
Correct a fitting or replacement time
- Open the vehicle's Tires tab and find the entry in Timeline.
- Use Edit time and choose the actual local date and time of the change.
- Save it. The app uses the corrected timeline to work out which sessions ran on each set and tire.
Removing a replacement entry makes the previous tire in that position current again. Original tires are part of the set and cannot be removed individually.
Add usage from outside LapperSnapper
Use Adjust for the relevant tire. Enter Additional timed laps and Additional kilometres for use the app did not record, then tap Adjust to confirm. These fields are manual additions to the automatic totals. When you reopen the form, edit the existing adjustment rather than adding the displayed total again. The distance adjustment field is in kilometres even when distance summaries use miles.
Team changes need a connection and vehicle edit access; archived vehicles are read-only. If another staff member changes a timeline entry while you edit it, refresh and try again from the latest entry.
