Sectors and the ultimate lap
Last updated 8 days ago
Lap times hide information; sectors reveal it. LapperSnapper splits every lap into sectors and times each one.
The Laps tab
The Laps tab lists every lap with its time and sector splits. Scan a column of one sector across the session and you see instantly whether you're consistent there or still searching.
Purple-style highlights mark your best individual sectors — they rarely all come from the same lap.
The ultimate lap
Your ultimate lap is the sum of your best sectors from the session: the lap you'd have driven if you'd nailed every part in one go.
The gap between your best real lap and your ultimate lap is one of the most honest numbers in your data:
- A small gap means you're consistent — to go faster you need to find new speed, not tidy up.
- A large gap means the speed already exists — you've done every piece of the faster lap, just never together. Consistency, not bravery, is the win.
Tip
Check the ultimate lap between runs. "Two tenths sitting in sector 2" is a concrete goal for the next stint, and the coach briefing will often point at the same place — see Track detection and the coach briefing.
